THE TUSCARAWAS COUNTY

COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT CORPORATION

The Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) of TuscarawasCounty has a fifty-year-history of community leadership to encourage business and industry growth.  Nearly fifty leaders from business, industry, the professions, and elected leaders in Tuscarawas County create a continuum of innovation to facilitate business start-up, relocation into Tuscarawas County, and expansion of existing business and industry facilities.  Over the last fifty years the CIC has helped business and industry grow through the use of industrial revenue bond funding of industrial facility construction and expansion.  Most recently the CIC has labored to achieve its most aggressive vision; the creation of a 170-acre high tech industrial park, called the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park.

The Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park, located near the Kent State Tuscarawas campus on the edge of New Philadelphia is providing a pastoral, rolling hills setting to attract high tech research and development companies in plastics and polymers, biotech, nanotechnology, agra science, information technology, computer animation and simulation, green technology, and alternative energy development.

During the summer of 2009, the first structure in the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park will break-ground; the CIC’s Eugene Tolloty Technology Center.  The Center will provide incubation space for start-up, high tech companies, and also act as the network hub for the Tech Park’s massive OC 192 broadband network.  The CIC office will also be within this facility.

Dr. Gregg Andrews, Dean of Kent State Tuscarawas, and President of the Community Improvement Corporation of Tuscarawas County recently said, “the community around the Tuscarawas Regional Technology Park which includes the Kent State Tuscarawas Campus, the Center for the Performing Arts on the Kent Tusc campus now under construction, the Buckeye Career Center campus, high tech companies like Timken, and the outdoor amphitheatre/drama “Trumpet in the Land”, create a cultural and knowledge environment perfect for the natural campus-cluster setting of the Regional Technology Park”.
